HAPPY PI(E) DAY!!

It's finally here and in just a few minutes we can all cheer!! (Like the rhyme?)
So pay attention to the posting time for this entry. (Remember it is 3.14.... today.) When I taught geometry we always celebrated.
By the way what is your favorite flavor? Let's take a poll. Mine is pecan. Dad's is apple.
Dad remembers his mom making apple pies in the kitchen and letting him have slices of cinnamon apples. The first apple pie I made him turned out to be an apple cookie since I did not know to mound the apples high in the pan because they would cook down. Needless to say, he was kind and said it tasted just fine.
I remember making Bill's favorite for his birthday--and then putting candles in the hot pie. Ooops! After he blew them out and we began to remove them, they had no bottoms, only the wicks were left. We served the pie quickly before the wax rehardened. Nobody would have noticed, though, because of the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
{I would have made Dad a pie today, but he has a special dinner tonight over in Lancaster with some chocolate people. Think happy thoughts for him, please. We'll let you know what happens.}
Oh, drat--I tried so hard to post at exactly 1:59 so that the date would be 3.14159, but the time stamp comes from when I started the post. Oh, well, I tried.

You are so cute sometimes. My favorite pie varies w/the season, but it is always one of my top picks: Chocolate chip pecan (not a walnut fan anymore), pumpkin, apple-cranberry, or sour cream apple fold-over.

My favorite pie is key lime. We have been sending good thoughts to Ed.

Hi Kathy and others,

My favorite pie is pumpkin, especially when it is served on Halloween Night! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day and Easter to you all.

My favorite pie is the closest one.

Mom, I love that the nerd-liness in this family is genetic. Heather makes fun of me sometimes but then I point out that she thinks correcting gramatical mistakes is a recreational activity.

Although I make fun, the nerdiness is actually Tom's most endearing characteristic...and the thing we most have in common. And correcting grammatical mistakes is not part of the nerdiness. It's cool. I love this post - and happy Pi Day to you (a little late)! I wished one of my co-workers happy Pi Day and he said "What's Pi Day?" Tragic. I love the poll idea! Although I love fruit pies, my favorite is chocolate cream. Yum.
