"Waiting to Exhale"

This has been a breath-holding week, to say the least. From the dinner on Friday to the news of the Scherer tragedy on Sunday to the e-mails on Tuesday to the temple, Jen's call about Ed's appendectomy, and the request to speak at the funeral on Wednesday to the wonderful day spent with Dal, Taylor, Cami, Ed, and Jen on Thursday to the writing of the talk on Friday (and the red eye to SFO) to the funeral and all the old friends and tears and hugs on Saturday to the 7 hour drive (there and back) to visit with Bill, Kennan, and Austin and go to church in Chico on Sunday to the crazy idea of flying on the day after a holiday today (I got the last seat on my plane, last row, middle). I am ready to be calm and patient and quiet for a day or so. Tomorrow I plan to tour my yard and see what spring has brought while I've been gone--maybe forsythias and hyacinths. I'll share pictures then.
I am deeply grateful for the promise of the resurrection at this trying time.

I know it was a crazy week, but thanks for coming to help run the kids around while I went between Ed's work and the hospital - you turned a frustrating day into fun for the kids.

I have hyacinths!!! I planted the bulbs from the pot you bought me when you came out after Aspen joined our not-so-little family, and they were the first things to come up in our yard.
I'm so excited to watch them continue to grow, just little shoots and leaves right now, with stalks full of buds not ready to bloom quite yet.

They remind me of you, and I love that. I love you.
